Boone River WMA

Local County Supervisors, Soil and Water Conservation Districts, and communities within Kossuth, Hancock, Humboldt, Wright, and Hamilton Counties have partnered to form a group called the Boone River Watershed Management Authority (WMA). This group was formed in April of 2019, and their goal is to join efforts in order to address conservation issues at a watershed scale. This group will bring in additional funding and local expertise to improve water quality, decrease flooding, improve recreational opportunities, create resilient communities and farms, and increase wildlife habitat and biodiversity.

This groups first task was to create a Watershed Plan, which will be used as a road-map to reaching shared goals for the watershed. The Watershed Plan is available below. If you would like to be more involved in the watershed please contact Karen Wilke at kwilke@tnc.org.
